3A – Your Entrepreneurship Story




My cousin created a software program about a year ago. It is very difficult having to build software, coming up with a business plan, creating a budgeting plan, establishing a marketing strategy, and searching for potential investors on your own.

That’s why I am currently supporting my cousin and taking some work off his shoulder. I am mainly focusing on describing the target audience as best as I can, and I am putting a marketing plan together.

I am also working on the most important social media platforms for the company. Entrepreneurship is constant work and there are always new obstacles to overcome. But for me, it seems like the biggest challenge is to get the ball rolling in the first place and starting something.

Once there is progress the motion keeps ongoing. Just like newton’s first law of motion states,” An object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will continue to move at a constant speed in its original direction unless acted upon by an external force“.

The reason why I wanted to attend this class (ENT 3003) was that the subject entrepreneurship has always been a field of my interests and is pretty much the only class that tells you to go against the stream as we discussed in class.

We, students, are just being manufactured on a huge assembly line to then after college stand there with a piece of paper that should prove, we are good enough for a decent life and a decent job. That is why want to have the option to possibly work for myself, where you do not have to compete with others that are holding the same paper as you in your hands, but you can succeed as much as you want to without any type of certificate.
Therefore, I believe it is from extreme importance to learn what it takes to become an entrepreneur, to learn about how an entrepreneur thinks, acts, and lives in general.

    Hello Steven,
    Reading your article, it is really interesting hearing about your experience with entrepreneurship and the role that you have played in helping your cousin develop and expand his software program. I agree with you 100% that the most difficult challenge in entrepreneurship is just starting all together. It can be easy to come up with an idea for a new product or service that fixes a problem, but the hard part is transforming that idea into something real. ENT3003 provides us with an opportunity to look at the world from a very different perspective, and I think the class will allow us to open our eyes a bit more to better see the issues/opportunities that surround us in the world today.

    Good evening Steven,
    It is great that you are helping your cousin with his software program, as I'm sure that he has a lot to worry about. I agree with your stance that being an entrepreneur requires you to overcome many obstacles and setbacks. Additionally, it is important that you find something to help you get started. I feel that running social media accounts and developing a market plan are two crucial ways towards building your cousin's overall plan. These are great ways to get your cousin's software program running and a great step towards your path to becoming an effective entrepreneur.

Inbound Marketing What was the general theme or argument of the book?  In general, the book  Inbound Marketing , by Brian Halligan, talks about how to generate leads on the internet. The main topics are SEO, Blogging, Social Media and other tools for building your brand.      How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? In class, we have discussed how to start a business successfully but did not dive very deep into marketing strategies and online presence.
