1)    Identify the exit strategy you plan to make.

a.    The video course I will create will be available for purchase online for about 3 years after launch. It might vary slightly, depending on demand. I will take down the course, shut down the website, and cut all advertisements. The exit will not be hard since I will not have any employees that are dependent on me and there is no production because it is a virtual product.

2)    Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?

a.    This type of business is usually a short-term gain and not a long-lasting form of income. Video courses are usually available for 2-3 years and then they become obsolete. It is not possible to sell nor license.

3)    How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept?

a.    My exit strategy does influence my business strategy. Because I only have such a small window of time to make things work, I will have to blast marketing only over a short time 2-3 months. This business venture is not a marathon but a sprint. It will be all about the launch of the product and the first year will be the cash cow.

  1. Hello Steve,
It was very interesting getting to read about your exit strategy because you seem to have everything figured out logistically. The question I would have is: would your exit strategy be different if there was still a high demand 3 years after launch? I can see how the business can be viewed as temporary and is more in-line to cash out very quickly. With such a temporary business, marketing can play a huge role in your success so making sure that you are growing your business and building positive feedback for your product will be essential.
