The most interesting assignments for me where the reading assignments. The main topic of the books would be completely different from another, still, I could see parallels between them all. I am very glad to have read the books I picked. One of them was the biography of the Wright brothers, which showed me how failure brings you closer to your goal, even though it might not look like it. Then I read Mindset: The new psychology to success, this book showed me how having the right mindset (a growth mindset), will get one so much further in life. The last book I read was Inbound Marketing, which is important for any entrepreneur to know because it will grow your business exponentially.
The lowest points, the hardest ones, where to go out and talk to strangers and interview them. These interviews took a lot of willpower to do, but I learned a lot from them. The most fun moment I usually had in class, listening to Professor Pryor is like an informative comedy show, I love it.

Other assignments that I enjoyed where the bug list, asking people about my strengths and unique aspects, and my favorite out of all, the elevator pitches. I used to hate speaking in front of cameras and listening to my voice and looking at the video. After doing it a hundred times, you get comfortable with it. If this would be the only thing I got out of this course, it would have already paid off. These videos I will watch years from now and they will always give me a good laugh, I am sure. This is also the exercise I am most proud of because I put so much effort into making it perfect and getting out of my comfort zone.

Overall, I believe I understand entrepreneurs more now and I have acquired a more of that mindset for myself as well. I know how to deal with failures better now and I have a more realistic idea of what it means to be an entrepreneur.

I would recommend using this course to break out of your comfort zone, to make it hard for your self and not take the easy way out. Implement the things you learn and grow from it. The one assignment you should always be doing, every single day, is the bug list. You might think, I don’t have an idea and come up with so many excuses. Write down things that annoy you and find a solution to it. That is being an entrepreneur.

  1. Hello Steve,
I agree with you that the reading assignments allowed me to better connect what we have been learning in this course to actual entrepreneur's experiences developing their businesses. The bug list was actually a very interesting assignment because we had to change the way that we viewed problems that we experience daily and try to figure out solutions and explanations for these problems and why they exist. Your recommendation is a good one too because I think that the more effort the students put into this course, the more they will be able to get out of it and the more they will be able to learn about how to become successful as an entrepreneur. Nice job!

  2. Good afternoon Steven,
I really enjoyed peer reviewing your work and agree with you that the Bug List was a great assignment. I can tell from your different elevator pitches that you have slowly developed a stronger and better entrepreneurial mindset. You have faced failures and learned from them, which is essential in bettering yourself as an individual. I also agree that for this course, one must break out of their comfort zone. I feel that you have described this class perfectly as a class that students should take if they want to open themselves up to society and people around them. Overall, great work!

  3. Hello Steven,
I loved seeing how what you though about some of your past experiences in this class. I also found our experiences to be similar in that we both enjoyed the reading assignments. I, like yourself, love to learn about people and the aspects of their life that most do not know. This made all of the reading assignments interesting and very easy to complete.
