After
conducting 3 interviews with potential customers that feel the need to possibly
use my product/service and are in my market segment I found the following:
My segment
(college students that are distracted from technology and lose their focus
easily) do care about the price of my product/service but their most important
factor is effectiveness. They also all agreed that the course has to be
straight forward and has to include practical methods of improving their focus
and reducing their screen time. The potential customers also expect money
back guarantee in case the service does not meet expectations.
Because of the
target segment is younger aged people they would be more likely to purchase
online. Parents might be involved with this purchase which could make them the
actual purchaser in most cases. The transaction would be made by credit card
online, which makes the purchase easy and gives the customer an instant ability to
use the product/service.
The way the customer would determine the “rightness” of the purchase would be if he/she
would notice better studying/focus skills, and would have reduced screen time.
If the purchaser does not feel that they have learned to focus better, and seem
to be addicted to their phone/social media etc., the same way as before doing
the online course, they would be dissatisfied.
I picked people
with the same need and similar stories and I found that they all have equivalent
opinions on the purchase and what is expected from the product/service. They
all claimed price and effectiveness played the greatest role. Also, they all
claimed they would only buy if the product/service was credible enough. They
want to see testimonials and results of others before buying.
Overall, the
segment needs to trust and believe the service to first of all purchase but
also use it effectively. Selling the product online is definitely the most
sufficient way of targeting the audience. Also, the customer seeks a price
worthy but effective product/service and easy accessibility. The customer will
feel good after purchasing if the product/service meets expectations of what
was promised and they are more focused and more efficient.
Hello Steve,
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see why college students tend to care more about the price and effectiveness of your product. College students do not have a lot of disposable income so price will be of huge importance to them and they want to make sure they are going to get the best value for their money. I think that by explaining the benefits of the product to your market, you will experience great results as they will realize what your product offers them. Potential customers would definitely feel inclined to assess the effectiveness of your product, which is where customers reviews and online feedback will help your product grow even more. Since most of your customers tend to purchase their products online, it becomes even easier to assess and evaluate different products so I think overall feedback and reputation will be important as well in growing your product and becoming successful.
